How to Turn Off Ring Doorbell Without App

Can you temporarily disable Ring ?

I am moving away and have helicopter parents, so they are going to want access to my ring, lets say I want to have a guest over without the Ring app alerting them or a notifcation/ movement event notifying them, would this be possible?

We have a feature request created for this feature: https://redd.it/72cpep Please go there and vote it up if you want it.

We have feature requests consolidated to a no discussion subreddit where users can vote on them with the hope that Ring will prioritize development of features the users want. https://www.reddit.com/r/RingDoorbell_Feat_Req/top/ Please vote on the others there that you might like to have as well.

Best way to look at this is that you are the OWNER of the account;they are shared users. You can turn off the motion zones but you will need to press the doorbell to save the options which will notify any shared users.

You can try taking advantage of the smart alerts. Essentially if you trigger a motion and then trigger another motion immediately after the thirty-second recording ends it will go into a sort of standby mode where will not detect motion for a few minutes longer. So if you wanted to sneak someone up that would be the way to do it. Just trigger some false motions and then go for it. If a live view is on you will see a circle light around the doorbell.

Put a sticky note over it

I have the chime pro and I just switch that off to turn the whole thing off.

Just to confirm-- your parents are shared users on your Ring device?

level 2

They are going to want to be yes

Are you saying you are moving out of your house and taking your ring door bell with you. However once you move into your own place your parents will have access to your ring doorbell and spy on you? There is bigger issues here I think or I simply don't understand what your asking.

level 2

Idk if you wanna calll it spying but I'd like to have visitors over without explaining who they are.

I'll be buying a ring myself and they are going to want to be put as a shared user. I'll be the owner tho. I just wanna confirm that if I disable alerts from my side I'll be doing on their side too

Flip the breaker it's connected to.

It's battery , wifi operated?

You have a few options:

If you want to "Disable" the ring, you can just turn off Ring Alerts and Motion Alerts. It will still ring your bell inside the house like a dumb doorbell.

If you want the same functionality without an iPhone: Buy a Ring Chime and have it issue motion/ring alerts inside the house.

Hope this is what you're asking, your question is a bit confusing.

level 2

So when you disable those alerts they are disabled for your shared users too?

level 2

No, that won't work. Turning off alerts is specific to a particular app. The Ring doorbell will continue to alert other apps on other devices that are connected to it.
You'll have to turn off the doorbell, disable its internet access at the router, cover the camera, or temporarily de-authorize any other connected devices.
